In Loving Memory: Fr. Louis Madey (April 4, 1944 – December 22, 2020)
We remember with gratitude the life and service of Rev. Canon Louis Madey, a devoted priest, chaplain, and educator. Born near Lublin, Poland, Fr. Madey was ordained in 1968 and came to the U.S. in 1977. He earned double doctorates in philosophy and theology from the Catholic University of Lublin.
Fr. Madey served with distinction as a Navy and Marine Corps chaplain, earning multiple National Defense Service Medals. In 2007, he was honored with one such medal between celebrating both the Extraordinary and Ordinary Form Masses at St. Josaphat Church—where he ministered faithfully for many years.
His legacy also includes years of formation and leadership as Vice Rector and Dean at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Polish Seminary in Orchard Lake, MI.
